YOUTH HOST.
Eni Owoeye, daughter of Nigerian immigrants, was born in Brooklyn, New York, but currently lives in Baltimore, Maryland, which is the lands of Susquehannock, Nentego (Nanticoke) and Piscataway tribes. At university Eni is a member of the African American and Latinx Association, and Power to the People centered on social activism. Eni is a student with great ambition to broaden the idea of an environmentalist. Her interest in environmentalism and cross cultural connections led her to realize the disparities in environmental education among many communities. Striving to break down stereotypes surrounding eco-consciousness, she reaches out to marginalized and under-represented communities in an effort to mobilize participation against environmental racism to achieve environmental equity. A highlight of Eni’s journey is tutoring individuals within the criminal justice system to achieve higher education, especially around topics of environmental science.
