Travis Aten

Hailing from the east coast of Canada, Travis currently lives in Halifax, Nova Scotia where he gets to see the beautiful Atlantic ocean every day. Travis holds a Master’s degree from Dalhousie University where his research focused on the international management of migratory species in areas beyond national jurisdiction. Since then, Travis’ admiration for areas beyond national jurisdiction or the ‘high seas’ has only grown. Currently, Travis is the Program Associate for the High Seas Alliance where he is working with world governments and stakeholders at the United Nations towards the establishment of a new high seas treaty to protect biodiversity within the high seas. Travis is also the Flotilla Coordinator for the OneOcean Initiative, an unbranded communications collective of ocean and climate NGOs working towards enhancing human wellbeing through ocean protection and safeguarding its key services.
