WHAT WE DO / ACTION

Aside from our global movement, with H2OO SEAL at the forefront, we are taking action now in so many ways! Here are just a few of our sweeping current efforts:

WE INFLUENCE

POLICY CHANGE

We meet with lawmakers of our countries, with state representatives, and with local governments asking them to support bills and ordinances that protect our planet and oppose those that will harm our oceans and waterways.

We have testified before governing bodies such as the California State Ocean Protection Council and the Pacific Fishery Management Council on the issues of protecting forage fish populations and “essential fish habitat.”  In April 2018, the PFMC moved to protect a landmark 140,000 sq miles of waters off the US west coast from bottom trawling.

WE ENGAGE REGULARLY IN

EDUCATION AND OUTREACH

We educate others every chance we get about human impacts on our oceans and waterways—presenting, paneling, rallying, tabling, even performing as the human impacts themselves!

We also engage in outreach, striving to connect with youth everywhere, local, national and international.

We scholarship youth every year for dive certification and we work to help them access their waters to snorkel, swim, and dive as often as possible.

We protect what we love, and we love what we connect with.

WE DO

BEACH AND WATERWAY “SWEEPS

TO CONDUCT

BRAND AUDITS

We recognize that we can no longer “clean it up”. The garbage dumped into our oceans and waterways and that runs from land to sea is so pervasive that trash is cumulating and microplastics abound. We conduct beach and waterway “sweeps” where we collect what humans “throw away”, separate it, and then do a brand audit.

H2OO Sweeps

Heirs conduct sweeps and brand audits from Nigeria to Kentucky to California to Palau.

We are a part of the #BreakFreeFromPlastic movement recognizing that the rate at which single-use plastics are being churned into the marketplace requires that manufacturing corporations be held accountable.

Corporate and governmental responsibility is necessary to make a change for our futures.

We, therefore, are a part of a collaboration noting the biggest contributors to plastic pollution and uploading our data to a repository through which meaningful discussions with the responsible corporations and governments can be had.

WE ARE MAKING

A MOVIE TO FURTHER

OUR MOVEMENT

What better way to spread the word about our movement to inspire all youth to rise up and take a stand for their planet than through a full-length feature film! We have been filming since day one. We have exciting, heartfelt, and meaningful footage. Now we are entering into the next phase and need funding for editing and post production.

If you are interested in helping us to get our message out globally through a full-feature film, please write to us at info@heirstoouroceans.org.

H2OO Art in Action

We do spoken word, perform as human impacts, create visual art including with plastic pollution, and more.  Anything we can do to engage creatively in bringing attention to the serious issues our generation is facing.

WE PUT ART

INTO ACTION

We put art into action getting our message out about the challenges our generation’s waters face through performing and visual arts. Art and activism are a powerful combination.

WE HAVE A LEARNING MODEL THAT WORKS

and that we want to share with the world.

Education reform is so very much needed, and we have an interdisciplinary, project-based learning model where all subject matters tie into the theme of solving our ocean and water crisis. If only every child had an opportunity to learn about real-world issues and begin thinking about solving them starting at age 8! We do intend to package our learning model with curriculum.

If you are interested in assisting with our education reform efforts, please write to us at info@heirstoouroceans.org.
