OUR CORE CURRICULUM

CORE CURRICULUM

Our learning model is based on the idea that water connects all life in this one-water system we call Earth, including humans. Youth find great power and purpose when they come to understand this, leading them to want to cross human-created barriers to protect our Blue Planet together.

Foundational to H2OO’s core curriculum is empathetic leadership. If all world leaders were empathetic leaders, our world today would be healthier and safer for all.

Our education approach is based upon our belief that the next generation of leaders must:

OUR CORE SOLUTION

Solving For Impact Through Empathetic Collaboration

Connect Youth in Their Natural Environment

Provide a Safe Space for Authentic Dialog

Teach Youth Active Listening

Engage Youth in a Shared Learning Environment

Prioritize Empathetic Leadership

TOGETHERNESS OVER
COMPETITIVENESS

The way in which we work with youth is vastly different from what youth experience in conventional schools. For example, the value of Togetherness is prioritized, not Competitiveness as cultivated in today’s school systems. Imagine a world where our schools create a culture where “We”, not “I”, are centered.

EMPOWERMENT & SKILL BUILDING

BUILDING SKILLS TO DRIVE REAL-WORLD CHANGE

H2OO recognizes that the skills to effectively engage in the real world and to realize a better future are not being taught to youth in school. H2OO commits to focused skill-building retreats as well as 1:1 services as needed by traditionally-marginalized youth, meeting them where they are.

Learning the value of, and practicing, empathetic leadership is the foundation of H2OO’s skill-building programming. Additional skill-building opportunities range from how to use a computer, to storytelling and filmmaking, communications, public speaking and presenting, policy advocacy, project management, goal setting, and more. Problem-solving, creative thinking, and critical thinking skill development are always, intentionally and thoughtfully, a focus.

WORKSHOPPING CAUSE AND EFFECT

H2OO has a unique approach in working with youth to help them process the cause and effect of what they believe are the greatest challenges they are inheriting. If the youth feel that the climate crisis is the greatest challenge their generation must face, then we workshop with them the cause of the climate crisis. To solve the problem, the root(s) must be addressed. Additionally, a deep look at consequences, including the intersection of environmental degradation and humanitarian crises, is a focus.
